Part-time or Full-Time Teacher of English Mainscale / UPS – potential TLR for the right candidate.

We are seeking a part-time or full-time Teacher of English to work at Beacon Hill School. Ideally, you will join our team in September 2026. This is a brilliant opportunity for an ambitious and enthusiastic teacher to continue and develop the excellent work that has already been done to improve literacy across our schools.

This role is primarily based at Beacon Hill Community School but the successful candidate may be required undertake some teaching at our partner school, Solway Community School in Silloth.

Our small and friendly schools provide excellent opportunities to be involved in school-wide activities as well as the challenge of teaching across the age and ability range. The right candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and inspirational in the classroom. They will work supportively with our students to ensure all learners achieve the best for their ability. There may also be the opportunity for the right candidate to progress up the pay scale and take on an extra TLR within the department.

EXAM INVIGILATORS – Casual

We are seeking Exam Invigilators to support our summer exam series. 

This is a casual (zero hours) contract, and may include some or all of our external exams.  Exams last from 1-3 hours and you will be expected to be in attendance for at least 15 minutes before and after each exam you invigilate.

Invigilation can include being in charge of an exam room with multiple students, or supporting an individual student with access arrangements, for example reading the exam paper or scribing for them.  You will be able to specify which sort of invigilation you prefer.

Before you can invigilate you will need to:
– Complete a full application form including full work history
– Undergo a DBS check
– Have an interview
– Provide 2 references
– Undertake invigilator training (we will pay you for the time this takes)
– Follow your training and other instructions accurately in order that the exams are conducted according to regulations, policies and procedures

This role is dependent on our need for casual invigilators and will generally be throughout the annual exam periods (May and June) although we also conduct mock exams in November, March and school annual exams in June and July.  Rate of pay is £12.65 per hour.
